Department Prosecution Division Salary Range: $40,017.00 – $62,820.00 MUST BE SERVING PERMANENTLY IN THE CLERICAL ASSOCIATE TITLE OR IN A COMPARABLE PERMANENT TITLE TO APPLY.
The Prosecution Division is responsible for the prosecution of all summonses issued by the TLC. The prosecution division includes the Court Unit which investigates and prosecutes over 100,000 summonses each year, and the Consumer Complaint Unit which initiates and prosecute complaints brought by consumers including but not limited to passengers and licensees. TLCs role is to promote the highest standards of safety and consumer protection in the industries we regulate. TLC is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to help the Agency continue its work to develop a modern, innovative approach to the prosecution process with the key goals of (1) providing excellent customer service to our clients, and (2) improving the efficiency of our internal operations. Under the supervision of the Supervising Case Examiner, the duties of the selected candidate will include but may not be limited to the following: access trip records from TPEP and LPEP system, retrieve FHV data from Access Program, generate affidavits, check for compliance from bases, answer questions from base representatives, communicate with complaining witness, provide general direction as appropriate, utilize excellent customer service skills and use of translation services when needed. The selected candidate will also assist with other case support related duties as needed. Minimum Qualifications
Qualification Requirements A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience. Skills Requirement Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
Preferred Skills
Skilled in effective, clear and persuasive oral and written communications. A writing sample will be requested as part of the hiring process. A candidates bi-lingual ability will be a strong component in the selection process. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. Aptitude for multi-tasking. Analytical and aptitude for problem solving. Customer Service experience. Ability to adapt to a fluid work environment and changing needs and priorities. Residency Requirement New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
